Took a bit of a breather from the site for a while. I’m back now. I’ll try to keep it interesting with local tidbits from the Yarmouth area or anything I find interesting from elsewhere. Since I live in Cole Harbour and work in Halifax, there will probably be some HRM stuff here too.
A Vestas wind tubine was destroyed in Hornslet Denmark when the turbine suffered what is believed to be a brake failure last Friday while being serviced. The turbine was an NTK600 and is old technology. It is not believed that there are any of this type in Canada. The average winds on that day were 10m/sec. This is a turbine made by the same company as the turbines in West Pubnico NS. The exact age of the turbine that failed is not known but it is believed to be more than 10 years old.
